Vocab (lesson 2)



have a row (with someone): I had a row with my boyfriend last night.
-> Last night, I had a row with my girl friend because she came home late.

To ring up = to phone
-> I rang up my parents to let them know that I arrived Paris safely.

Stunned (adj): very shocked or upset, especially so that you are unable to act normally
-> I was stunned to hear that you're going to marry next month.

Skid (v): If a vehicle skids, it slides along a surface and you cannot control it:
-> The road was so wet and slippery that a few cars skidded on it.

Puncture (n): a hole in a tyre that makes the air come out
-> We cannot move on if the tyre of the car have a puncture.

Jack (n): a piece of equipment for lifting a heavy object such as a car
-> We need a jack to lift that heavy car.

Pump (n): a piece of equipment that forces liquid or gas to move somewhere.
It would be convenient if you could bring a pump with you when you're riding a bike.

Catch up on: to do something that you did not have time to do earlier:
-> I have to catch up on some unfinished homework.
